first kiss
Chelsea and I had the most memorable first kiss experience. Our day started out looking for adventure. We both had heard about a Alaskan tour guide job for the summer. We were both interested because we heard about all the amazing sites to see. I really wanted to see the northern lights, and UVU is where we could of signed up for the summer. I offered Chelsea a ride (He asked if I could pick him up) to UVU so we could sign up together. We arrived to UVU only to find an empty booth. The opportunity was gone for us to go to Alaska for the summer. With no sadness I said "welp, I have class here in about 20 min... want to come? I will buy you some J dawgs afterwards!" Chelsea accepted and we decided to go walk around for a bit till class started. While we were walking I noticed Chelsea had an mischievous look in her eyes. Since this was in the fall and the leaves had recently fallen off their branches, Chelsea decided to make the most of this walk. She started picking up leaves and throwing them at me! Surprised and a little embarrassed- because I was in the middle of school where many classmates could see me-, but alas I too joined in. We were climbing up light polls to avoid getting hit, I threw leaves from the top of the hill which hit her face directly, and we buried each other in the leaves. Pausing for a moment I was able to get another small moment watching her have fun and I fell more in love. We went to class and she did not say anything, but we did exchange love notes. One of the notes had my name all decorated with flowers hearts and butterflies (hahaha I'm not 5, I only drew hearts and flowers). I added on to the note by mixing her name with mine. Using the two E's in my name I was able to write Chelsea's name. She still has that note with our names on it.
Now you can see I had all the right to want to kiss her!
After school we awarded ourselves the J dawgs I promised. We retired to my apartment and my roommates invited us to go to the mall with them. On the drive up to the mall we somehow were linked in holding hands during the car, she must have entranced me with her big eyes. We enjoyed ourselves at the mall by passing each store wishing we could have everything we saw. We even sat in Santa's chair. I security guard was about to tell us off but we were quicker than the wind before he could talk to us. We had a good laugh about that too.
We returned to my apartment and we watched a quick movie (he forgot the part where we talked until 4 in the morning and while we were talking, he sat there staring at me then leaned it and gave me an eskimo kiss. It caught me off guard but I chuckled when he said "I just gave you an eskimo kiss," thanks for the explanation Derek) . After the evening was over it was time for me to walk her home (Finally! Now for the good stuff). I walked her home while holding hands. We came to the door step and she was one step above me. She gave me the you want to kiss me look (I was actually waiting for him to give me an eskimo kiss). I mustered up my strength and I was as calm as a summers day. I leaned in very slowly and Chelsea was smiling so big! I could not resist any longer. The smile tipped the scale. I am now going in for the kiss I thought to myself. I leaned in and kissed her. It was about a 10 second sensation till I noticed that her kiss was dying down. I wanted to continue but then Chelsea became heavier. I thought to myself, "Hello! Chelsea! I am kissing you!" She then became very limp and her eyes were rolled back to her head. SHE HAD FAINTED!!! "Chelsea?! Chelsea!" I said. She said very quietly back "I don't feel so good." (my side- as soon as our lips touched I got that passing out sensation, me being a pro passer outer I knew what was coming. I was scared to say anything though because I didn't want him to think I didn't like him or didn't want to kiss him, but a few seconds later I was on the ground)I placed her down on the step we were on and I could not figure out what was wrong with her. I rushed her inside and placed her on the couch. I brought her legs up and gave her a glass of water. I thought for a moment, I am a really good kisser apparently, or maybe it was my dashingly good approach to the kiss, anyhow it was my kiss that made her faint like a fairytale story. Chelsea gained some conscience back after awhile and I was able to talk with her. She talked about how embarrassed she was and I talked about how funny this was.
All the power in our first kiss confirmed to me that [she's the one, the luckiest girl I am going to marry, the most beautiful girl in town, and that makes her the best and don't I deserve the best?] -Gaston. I can't believe that she has not fainted since then.

How we met: his and hers- continued
Chelsea's version
I am by far not a good of a writer as Derek so if you just want to read his part, by all means scroll down!
The first time I met Derek was when he came to my house to introduce himself as our home teacher in August. I remember thinking to myself how cute this red and curly headed guy was. He was really shy but I thought it intriguing. We would talk every once in awhile in church and when he would come over to teach us. I remember talking in church and trying to crack jokes to get him to laugh, and then feeling dumb because they were really bad jokes. I think he just laughed out of pity.
A couple of months into living in Provo I became really sick and needed a blessing. Derek and another boy came over to give my a blessing and I had to promise myself I wouldn't say anything weird. He didn't stay too long after the blessing and because of my wonderful anxiety thought it was something I said. (I am sure he doesn't even remember any of this.
Finally at the very first of November we were both sitting by each other at ward prayer. I was saying my usual Chelsea thing but he was laughing at everything. We all decided to have an after ward prayer game night at his place and play pool with his apartment and mine. We all arrived and Derek wanted to show us some videos he had made, I happened to be sitting on the love sac where he needed to sit to set up the video. As we started talking something felt different and I couldn't stop smiling. We decided to play pool after that and Derek and I were put on the same team. As the game went on we were giggling and doing all the flirting stuff I didn't know I had inside of me. We kept "messing up" to get the game to go on longer and for some odd reason I offered to run home and grab my Newsies soundtrack.
Upon turning it on I started dancing, (and guys I never dance in front of people I don't know very well, my confidence would of never have stood for it. But for some reason that night all my insecurities went away) soon derek was singing and dancing to every word and it turned out to be one of the funnest nights of my life, even if some other people in the room couldn't stand to listen to musicals. We didn't care.

how we met: his and hers
Derek's Version
The day we first met began at the beginning of the school year. I was new to the ward so I was still shy and not willing to put myself out in the open for social interactions. The ward was nice, small, but quiet. The atmosphere did not convince me I was about to meet my sweetheart. Then in about mid September the weather was getting colder and the ward could not play outside. The ward decided to play a nice game of dodgeball inside the church gym. Because of my desire to win and desire to beat my brother Devan who was on the opposite team in our first match did not convince everyone else I was the nicest guy to want to get to meet. I was dripping with sweat and throwing dodge balls into people's faces, and stomachs. During the heat of the battle a young women named Chelsea decided this was a prime opportunity to get my name and introduce herself. And so it happened, we met while in the heated battle of a dodge ball game. Luckily she was quick on her feet and ran out of the gym to save her own life ;)
That first encounter, while playing dodgeball, did not instill in my memory that young women's name. However her face did not escape me. I can remember her frightened face as dodge balls were wizzing by.
The next month this young women and I sat close to each other during an FHE. Luckily her roommates who sat between us would say her name loudly before talking to her. Chelsea and I then shared a few interests and we decided to spend the rest of the evening at my apartment along with her roommates playing pool.
During our pool game it started as Chelsea and I. Somehow our game became very flirtatious and long. We would purposely miss the holes so that we would not have to switch the game with the others so we could flirt a little longer. After the first game was over we both felt the atmosphere needed a little more song or should I say dancing. Chelsea and I both agreed to listen to the disney musical "Newsies." We both danced to the music and we were both well versed in the words and role played throughout the whole song. It was then I felt a very large spark of love overcome my heart and I hoped to be able to dance with her again.
